Geneva worked for Beechcraft Aviation in Wichita for many years until her retirement.  After retirement she moved to Grove, OK., where she stayed active volunteering at the hospital, and working as a Customer Host for Walmart, then returned to Fredonia to be near her family.

Geneva enjoyed traveling and visiting with her family, she took great pride in always looking her best and being ready for anything exciting to happen.  She was a woman of strong faith and loved the warmth of the sun.  She enjoyed singing in her church choir, cooking and playing computer games, and loving her dog Penny and her cat Reany.  A legend to her family and a friend to many to will miss her greatly.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Peterson, children Mary Edson, Denise Peterson and step son Tyre Johnson.  Siblings Alve J. Peterson and Frank S. Strait Jr..  A grandson Mark Corbin and Great Grandson Alex Van Neese and sons-in-law’s Ted Corbin and Claude Edson.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, KS.  Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.   Services entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home 420 S. 20th St., P.O.
