The Smoky Valley Arts & Folklife Center presents Exposed: A Retrospective, a solo exhibition by Salina artist Crystal Hammerschmidt, July 31-August 30. A closing reception will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2:00-4:00pm.
Spanning more than twenty years of artistic practice, Exposed: A Retrospective brings together self-portraits, printmaking, paintings, sculpture, mixed media, and experimental works that document Hammerschmidt’s growth as both an artist and observer. While self-portraiture serves as the foundation of the exhibition, the work explores broader themes of identity, change, and the creative process.
A graduate of Smoky Valley High School and Fort Hays State University, Hammerschmidt currently serves as Art Services Coordinator for the City of Salina Arts & Humanities Department and continues to exhibit her work throughout Kansas and the surrounding region.
