Jami Don Silva, age 37, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2026, surrounded by loving family at Salina Regional Hospital.
Jami was born on January 3, 1989, in Lyons, Kansas, to Sheryl (Wilson) and Margarito Silva. Jami graduated from Lyons High School and went on to build a career across multiple industries, including finance and healthcare.
Jami found true joy in spending time with family and friends. She loved gathering with friends simply to spend time together and made treasured memories traveling across the country with cousins, family members, nieces, nephews, and close friends. One of Jami’s greatest passions was her deep love for animals, especially caring for elderly and abandoned animals.
Jami had a remarkable ability to listen to others and help those she deeply loved to become the best versions of themselves. She had remarkable compassion in caring for family and friends during times of need. Some of her happiest moments were spent laughing with loved ones and friends around the bonfire, watching her family grow, and appreciating how beautiful life is.
She is survived by her brother, Eric Silva (Megan), of Little Rock, Arkansas; her niece and nephew, Evan and Ava; her brother, Elijah Silva (Kristina); his children, Addison, Ariah, Carlin, Jailynn and Elias; her mother, Sheryl Silva; her father, Margarito Silva; her maternal aunts and uncles, Donnie Wilson (Penny), Ernie Wilson, Rita Smith (James), Jimmy Wilson (Yvonne), and Dougie Wilson (Leigh); paternal aunts and uncles, Francisco Silva (Consuela), Lupe Silva (Rosa), Elodia Flores (Manuel), Polo Silva, Esteban Silva (Alicia), Conception Valderez (Lupe), and Mayela Silva; great aunt, Rachel Gonzalez; and many cherished cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her Maternal grandparents Donald & Ida Wilson; and paternal grandparents, Francisco & Aquilina Silva.
Jami will be remembered for her warm heart, her sassy and wickedly smart sense of humor, intelligence and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. Though deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Bob Pinninti officiating. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, June 8, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
