Walter J HeinFlorence, KS

Walter J. Hein passed away on May 16th, 2026 at the Robert J Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita,KS. He was 79. He is the son of William J. Hein and Catherine M. Hein (Ruby).

Walter was born December 15th, 1946 in Florence, KS. He attended Marion High School. He served active duty in the US Army from 1967-1969 then in the Army Reserves until 1973.

He worked for AGCO Corporation for 40 years before retiring. After retirement, he volunteered at the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary in Marion until close to his passing.

Walt's greatest times were spending time at his Grandparents Farm, his love for horses, rendezvous, dancing, and his Westerns and Movies on TV. He was a member of the Black Powder Gun Club and the Smokey Valley Long Rifle and Pistol Club, which he was featured in many newspaper articles.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents William J Hein and Catherine M. Hein (Ruby), his wife Judy Hein, siblings Vernon Hein, Phyllis Landis, Charles Hein, his niece Brenda Epperson, and nephews Vernon Hein Jr and Christopher Brewer.

He is survived by his family John (Natalie) Hein, Richard (Phyllis) Hein, Laura Wayman, Catherine (Bernie) Ca mien, Linda (Darryl) Brewer, Brother-In-Law Claude Landis and his step-children Kevin (Brenda) Brinker, Shawna Pierce, Tammy (Brad) Smith, His grandchildren Megan Adamson, Kyle Brinker, Dalton Smith, Kory Brinker, Kolby Brinker, Kody Brinker, Bryce Hein, Jace Hein, and his great-grandchildren , many nieces, nephews, and his family at St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Florence KS on June 3rd at 11:30am led by Father Isaac Coulter. Rosary will be held June 2nd at 6:30pm at the Church. Final resting place will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence KS with Military Honors.
