1930-2026
From a Kansas farm girl to a devoted missionary, Charlotte was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. In 1959, she and her husband, Dick, along with their two young sons, boarded a ship bound for Thailand - a place that would become their home for more than 30 years. There, she faithfully supported Dick in ministry while creating a loving home and raising their four children.
Charlotte had a gift for hospitality and creativity. She loved to sew, bake, and play the piano, using these talents to serve others and build community. In their early missionary years, she taught English, cooking, and piano at Sammuk Christian Academy. Later, she taught English to elementary students at the Matirichit Chinese Baptist Church School.
Charlotte served on the board of the Christian Children’s Happy Home, the American Women’s Club, and the Women’s Association of the International Church. She also served as editor of The Thailand Tatler, a publication for the Church of Christ in Thailand. Although much of their work was conducted in Thai, Dick and Charlotte ministered to the Thai Chinese. To better serve them, they spent time in Hong Kong studying the Teochew Chinese language. Years later, they served for two years in Kakchieh, China, teaching English and secretarial skills to young professionals.
Charlotte had a willing heart - ready to serve wherever needed and to follow God’s leading in partnership with her husband. In 1991, they were honored to receive the Meeker Award from Ottawa University for their outstanding missionary service.
After retiring and leaving Thailand in 1995, Charlotte and Dick settled in Aledo, Texas, where she lived for 30 years. Their home remained a place of warmth and welcome, often hosting friends from Thailand. Charlotte taught English to adult Thai immigrants seeking citizenship and faithfully shared the Gospel whenever she could. Her love of reading led her to volunteer consistently at the Aledo Public Library. They were active members of Redeemer Bible Church in White Settlement, where Charlotte participated in and supported the women’s ministry. Over the years, they also traveled frequently to Thailand on short trips, continuing to minister to the people they loved.
Charlotte will be remembered for her quick wit, playful sarcasm, and joyful laughter. She shared a close bond with her two older sisters and treasured the times they spent together, especially during furloughs. Her strength and devotion were especially evident as she lovingly cared for Dick during his battle with cancer, reflecting her deep love for her childhood sweetheart.
She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, gardening, knitting, sewing, cooking, and baking. Charlotte will be deeply missed for the joy, warmth, and laughter she brought into the lives of so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pearl Casebier; her sisters, Lois Asher and Mary Hankins; her husband, Dick Worley; and her granddaughter, Sofia Morales.
