Kenneth W. Preheim
1938-2026

Kenneth W. Preheim, 88, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at Newton Medical Center, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born on January 10, 1938, in Freeman, South Dakota to Waldo and Florence (Goering) Preheim. Kenneth married Marilyn Schrag on July 30, 1960. They were blessed with three children: Lynn, Bret, and Trent.

He was a graduate of Moundridge High School, Bethel College and Emporia State Teacher’s College. He was a beloved schoolteacher for over 35 years, teaching at Liberty Grade School, Peabody-Burns, and Moundridge, KS. He worked on the family farm throughout the duration of his teaching career. Kenneth took immense pride in teaching and farming and enjoyed artwork, gardening, swimming, tennis, woodworking, and sharing his gifts with others. Kenneth was an active member of Eden Mennonite Church, teaching Sunday school for many years. He also served on the board of the Pine Village retirement community.

 

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Preheim; parents, Waldo and Florence Preheim; brothers, Calvin Preheim and James Preheim. He is survived by his children, Lynn (Cameron) Preheim, Bret (Carol) Preheim, Trent (Angela) Preheim; grandchildren, Emily (Steven) Farve, Paige Preheim, Justin Preheim, Cole Gooden, TJ (Emily) Wiebe, Maxwell Preheim, Silas Preheim; great-grandchildren, Oliver Farve, Drew Farve, Charlie Farve; sister, Judy Graber; sisters-in-law, Gladys Preheim, LaVera Schrag, Darla Schrag; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Eleanor) Schrag; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will hold a visitation from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, May 15, 2026, at Moundridge Funeral Home, 115 E. Cole St, Moundridge, KS 67107.

Memorial services will be held at Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge, KS, at 10:30am on Saturday, May 16, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel College, Pine Village, and the National MS Society. Donations and condolences for the family may be sent to Moundridge Funeral Home, P.O.
