1934-2026
Wanda Yaw, age 92, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care in Garnett, Kansas.
Wanda was born on February 20, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Mae (Mabrey)Â Anglen. She was the sixth of twelve children. Her family lived in Kansas City before moving to Fontana, Kansas, where she grew up and graduated from Fontana High School. In her early years, she worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City.
She was first married to Rollan Wright, and they were blessed with three children, Sandra, Roy, and Rex. Following Rollan's passing in 1966, Wanda was later united in marriage to Charles Lester Yaw on May 4, 1968, in Nowata, Oklahoma. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Wendy, and the family made their home in Greeley.
Wanda worked for many years as a home health aide for the state of Kansas. She possessed a true servant's heart, and even after her formal retirement, she continued to care for people in their own homes. She was an excellent cook whose fried chicken, chicken and noodles, and broccoli and rice casserole made family gatherings special. She will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor and it is living on in her grandchildren. Wanda's peanut butter fudge will be missed at Christmas.
Wanda was a talented woman who enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She loved solving all kinds of puzzles and spent countless hours outdoors. Some of her favorite memories included fishing with her children when they were young, going on adventures to hunt for night crawlers, and finding treasures at local garage sales. Above all, she loved her grandchildren. She had a special knack for getting them to mind her, and she was particularly grateful for the extra time she was able to spend with Amanda, Damon, and Mike while they were growing up.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mae Anglen; her first husband, Rollan Wright; her second husband, Charles Yaw, on February 8, 2005; two brothers, Bob and Raymond; and five sisters, Evelyn, Halley, Norma, Judy, and June.
She is survived by her four children, Roy Yaw and wife Kelly, Rex Yaw and wife Sue, Sandy Guilfoyle, and Wendy Wolfe and husband Rod;eighteen grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Anglen and wife, Lois, and Montey Anglen and wife, Kay; two sisters, Dixie Lee Barnette and Linda Cawby.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial will follow in the Greeley Cemetery.
