Betty Ann BishopYates Center, KS

Betty Ann Bishop, 94, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, at her home.

She was born January 2, 1932, in the oil fields in northwest Woodson County, Kansas, the daughter of Delmar Charles and Audrey Lydia (Fletcher) Morrow.

She grew up in the Virgil/Gridley area and attended the Gridley Schools where she was a cheerleader.

On January 10, 1949, she and Russell J. Bishop were married at Yates Center. They became the parents of six children.

They lived in Iola and Yates Center before moving to Larned, KS, for three years. They then returned to Yates Center where they would live the rest of their lives. After raising her children Betty was employed at the Wolf Creek Generating Station in Burlington in Document Control until her retirement. She and Russell were members of the East Central Kansas Ford Model T Club. Betty was an active member of the Yates Center Senior Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yates Center.
Her Husband, Russell, preceded her in death on November 1, 2017, following 68 years of marriage. She was also preceded by her parents; two sons, Russell Charles Bishop in 2012, and Brian Duane Bishop in 2025: and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Bishop in 2020.

She leaves her children, Eddie Bishop, Kansas City, MO, Randy Bishop (Christi), Yates Center, Rita L. Bishop, Burlington, KS, and Tim Bishop (Kim), Andover, KS; a daughter-in-law, Virginia “GiGi” Bishop, Yates Center; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Demler, Gore, OK, Karen Lee Gaut (Gene), Dodge City, KS, and Beverly Gaston (Clarence), Carl Junction, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.
