Randy Allen Royse, 71, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Hospice House, leaving behind a legacy shaped by grit, humor, and the unmistakable spirit of a true cowboy. Born February 4, 1955, in Hutchinson to Dwight Hunter and Rosalie Fern (Bratcher) Royse, Randy grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work, open skies, and the simple joys that make a life meaningful.

To his friends, he was “Joker,” a name earned through his easy smile and the lightheartedness he carried with him. A 1973 graduate of Central Christian High School, Randy spent his early years riding bulls—a passion that helped define him. Even long after he stepped out of the arena, he lived with the same courage, toughness, and quiet pride that marked a cowboy’s way of life. His ever-present cowboy hat wasn’t just an accessory; it was part of who he was.

Randy worked for Haven Steel Products and later Lowe’s Home Improvement, where his practical nature and steady reliability were appreciated by all who knew him. Outside of work, he found peace in the outdoors—fishing on calm mornings, tending to his garden (with tomatoes always being his favorite), watching wildlife, and spending time with the dogs he loved. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and a loyal supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs.

On January 29, 2000, Randy married Rebecca Ann “Becky” Rea in Hutchinson. She was the love of his life, and their years together were filled with companionship, laughter, and devotion. Her passing in 2021 left a profound emptiness, but Randy carried her memory with him every day.

Randy is survived by his children, Michael Dunn (Patricia) of Hutchinson, and Scott Royse (Brandy) and Jeremy Royse, both of Salina; his stepchildren, Reagan Biggs (Nick) of Goddard and Brent Parrish (Denise) of Salina; his sister, Terri Heidebrecht (Gary); his brother, Steve Royse; and many grandchildren and step‑grandchildren who will forever cherish his gentle presence and the stories he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Becky.

A funeral service honoring Randy’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Redemption Animal Rescue, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501—an organization fitting for a man who always had a soft spot for animals.

Randy lived simply, loved deeply, and carried the heart of a cowboy until the very end. His memory will live on in the people he loved and the quiet, steadfast way he moved through the world.
