Whittier, Calif. – The Tiger Men’s Volleyball team took a trip out west to participate in the Cal Pac Conference seeding Jamboree last week. The team played 4 matches against Simpson University, Westcliff University, Pacific Union College, and Walla Walla University.
Against Simpson, the Tigers showed flashes of strong play but ultimately fell 3-1. After dropping the opening set, the Tigers responded well by taking a set of their own and proving they could compete point for point. Even in the sets they lost, the Tigers stayed within reach, but Simpson executed better in late-set situations to close it out.
In the matchup with nationally ranked Westcliff, the Tigers had a tough time getting into rhythm and were defeated in straight sets. Westcliff controlled the pace early and kept pressure on throughout, making it difficult for the Tigers to build momentum. Despite the result, the Tigers continued to compete and worked through long rallies without backing down.
In their third contest the Tigers ran into a strong Pacific Union squad and were swept 3-0, struggling to find consistency offensively. Pacific Union dictated the tempo and capitalized on scoring runs, keeping the Tigers from settling into the match. The Tigers would now need to win their final match later in the day to earn a spot in the field of 4 conference tournament.
Against Walla Walla, the Tigers pushed the match to five sets but came up just short in a 3-2 loss. The Tigers showed resilience by extending the match and responding after dropped sets, keeping things competitive throughout. In the deciding set, Walla Walla was able to edge ahead late, but the Tigers ability to fight back and force a fifth set highlighted their competitiveness.
This would conclude the 2026 season for the Tigers, finishing 1-27 overall but were able to be much more competitive than the previous couple of seasons, showing some potential going forward.
