Venita Betty Scott, 79, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at her home in Hoisington, Kansas. She was born September 27, 1946, in Odessa, Texas to Stephen Billy “Bill” & Pamela (Edgington) Hicks.

Venita worked for Thies Packing Plant for a time before becoming a valued employee of Superior Essex for 30 years doing cable repair. She was a hard worker and took on a part time position with Casey’s, always greeting customers with great service and a smile. Venita was very talented and enjoyed doing embroidery and sewing. She loved to keep up with friends and family with social media. Her greatest joy and accomplishment were her children.

Survivors include sons, Daniel Scott of Otis, Jonathan Scott of Great Bend; daughter, Jackie Hamilton of Topeka; sisters, Sandy Saturn, Susan Lockwood; brothers, David Hicks, and Gary Hicks. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per Venita’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Memorials may be made out to Venita Scott Memorial Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main, Hoisington, KS 67544.
