Norma J. Heide
1935-2026

Norma Jean Heide, 90, died peacefully surrounded by family on April 14, 2026, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson.  She was born June 12, 1935, in Dalhart, TX, to Jacob E. and Agnes (Friesen) Harder.

Norma graduated from Inman High School in 1953 and Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, NE, in 1957.  She retired from Commerce Bank as an account manager.  Norma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Norma enjoyed gardening (with a special admiration for flowers), cooking, sewing, and puzzles.  Later in life she always looked forward to game nights. Norma and her friends would meet weekly at each other’s homes to play dominoes, Wahoo, as well as many other favorite games.  Norma cherished her family, and treasured time spent making countless memories with her sons, daughters-in-laws, and loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith in Christ was an essential part of her life and Norma spent many hours serving her church, Grace Bible Church, instilling a strong faith in her children and grandchildren.

On March 21, 1959, she married Robert Benjamin “Bob” Heide, in McPherson.  They shared 60 years of marriage prior to his death April 29, 2019.

Norma is survived by: sons: Eugene “Gene” Heide (Ellie), Keith Heide (Angela) and Galen Heide (Pamela), all of Hutchinson; sister, Orla Anderson (Steve); grandchildren, Leah Heide, Jesselyn Wilson (Matthew), Ross Heide (Serina), Drew Heide (Ashley), Amie Evenson (Brad), Grahm Heide (Katie), Kristie Thompson (Max), Brandon Heide (Elisa), and Hannah Sherman (Zach); step-grandchildren, Joshua McGill, Zachery McGill (Samantha), Tyler McGill (Kelbe) and Brianna McCrary (Joshua); 19 great-grandchildren (with three more on the way); and seven step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; stepmother, Esther Wiens; and brother, Raymond Harder (Lottie).

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at North Inman Cemetery.  Memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Bible Church (in the Worship Center), 1221 E. 33rd Avenue, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, in the Grace Life Room, located at Grace Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Bible Church (for their building fund), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
