Russell J. Taylor, 76, died April 14, 2026, at Sterling Village, Sterling. He was born September 28, 1949, in Pawtucket, RI, to John and Christina McDonald (McCreadie) Taylor.
Russell graduated from William E. Tolman High School, Pawtucket, RI. He began working on engines and cars at 10 years old, this passion turned into a lifelong career as a mechanic. Russell owned and operated Great Plains Division, Inc., Burrton, for many years, before retiring in 2019.
In 1970, he married Carla S. Wilson, in Hutchinson. Together they raised three children, they later divorced. She survives.
Russell is survived by: children, Wendy (John) Wolf of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jeremy Taylor of Raymore, MO; siblings, Connie Traylor and Douglas Taylor, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Leah (Stefan) Mattox, Zachary Taylor, Kristin Taylor, Lindsey Taylor, Dalton Taylor, Kaitlyn Taylor, Ashlyn Taylor, Madisyn Kuhn, Nathan Wolf, Ethan Taylor, Evan Taylor, Hayley Taylor, Amelia Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Lilith, A.J., Colton, and Kaylee.
He was preceded in death by: parents; son, Christopher David Taylor; and brothers, Jack Taylor and Richard Taylor.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
