Nadine Kay Baumgartel
1955-2026
Nadine Kay (Terrell) Baumgartel was born on January 5, 1955, in Sedan, KS to Clarence and Margaret (Nettrouer) Terrell. She grew up on the family farm and dairy in rural Grenola. She graduated from South Elk High School in 1973. On May 25, 1973, she married the love of her life Marlin Baumgartel.

They lived and worked on the family farm for a short time before making a home in Howard, KS. In 1975, they welcomed twin sons Bradley and Brian. With two small children Nadine was a homemaker and part time housekeeper in the community.

When her boys were about to begin school, Nadine went to work as a teller at 1st National Bank of Howard. She later became SR. Vice President and worked there until she retired in 2015. In retirement, she enjoyed working in her flower beds and just working outside. She took great pride in their 13-acre property and could almost always be seen out doing something in the yard if the weather was good.

Nadine was also active in the community serving on the Howard Chamber of Commerce, Benson Museum Board and was very active at Howard 1st Baptist Church. She was a proud and loving wife, mother, Nana, and great grandmother. Nadine went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Nadine was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Terrell, father Clarence "Ted" Terrell, a brother Robert and a sister Betty and a granddaughter Bella, also her father-in-law Dale Baumgartel and mother-in-law Bertha Baumgartel.

Survivors include her husband Marlin of the home, son Brian Baumgartel (Stacie) of Howard, KS, son Bradley Baumgartel (Melissa) of Howard, KS, grandchildren: Levi Baumgartel of Howard, KS, Raegan Baumgartel of El Dorado, KS, Colter Baumartel of El Dorado, KS, Jenica (Aaron) Andes of Holden, MO., Aaron Rodriquez of Chanute, KS, Alex Rodriquez of Minneapolis, MS, Andruw Rodriquez of Howard, KS. Great Grandchild: Lainey Andes. Siblings: Darline Terrell of Stillwell, KS, Judy Terrell of Winfield, KS. Sister-in-laws: Gayle Terrell of Gilbert, SC, Elaine McElwain of Burden, KS, Brother-in-law Roger (Carolyn) Baumgartel of Emporia, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews and chosen family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Howard, with burial to follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 5-7 pm at the funeral home in Howard.
