McPherson, Kan. – The Bulldogs were finally back at home after three straight doubleheaders on the road to host the Ottawa University Braves. McPherson continued to look for their first conference wins this season while Ottawa aimed to stay perfect in KCAC play.

Game One: MC 3, OU 17
Game One got off to a loud start, as Ottawa’s Abby Bellamy launched the second pitch of the game over the fence to give the Braves an early 1-0 lead. McPherson answered right away in the bottom half, tying things up on an RBI single from Layla Towner that brough home Victoria Thornton. Just two pitches later, Justice Large kept the momentum rolling with a two-run blast to left-center, putting the Bulldogs in front 3-1.
The back-and-forth didn’t last long, though, as Ottawa responded with a two-RBI single to even things up at 3-3. The Braves kept the pressure on in the next inning, using a bunt to plate a run and regain the lead before adding two more on their second home run of the day to stretch the advantage to 6-3.
Ottawa’s offense stayed hot in the fourth, with Brookelynn Becker sending the Braves’ third homer of the game out of the park to extend the lead. They continued to build in the fifth, stringing together a pair of doubles to push the score to 10-3.
The Braves broke things open in the sixth, capitalizing on a couple of Bulldog errors while piling on seven more runs. McPherson was unable to answer in the bottom half, losing as Ottawa secured a 17-3 win in six innings.
Game Two: MC 0, OU 7
Ottawa carried its momentum from Game One straight into the second game, grabbing an early 1-0 lead in the opening frame on a double from Braxton Stainbrook. The Braves’ kept things rolling in the second when Bellamy launched a two-run shot, her second home run of the day, giving Ottawa a 3-0 lead.
Stainbrook wasn’t done at the plate, adding a solo homerun and later a two-run blast to cap off a four RBI performance. Cece Mora joined the home run parade as well, helping power a seven-run showing from the Braves.
The Bulldogs struggled to get much going offensively, managing just three hits in the game and unable to push a run across the plate, dropping Game Two to the Braves 7-0.
