SALINA, Kan. — Kansas is gearing up to celebrate the 4th Annual Mobility Week from Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, 2024. During this week, KANcycle is offering free rides on its bicycles using the promo code “MobWeek24,” which is valid throughout the KANcycle service area.
According to Michelle Coats, Director of Mobility Management for the region, the aim is to partner with transit agencies across the state to promote the use of bicycles for mobility in North Central and Southeastern Kansas. The initiative is intended to encourage more people to use bicycles for various purposes such as shopping, running errands, or simply having fun.
To use a KANcycle bike, riders need to download the Movatic app, locate a bike rack with an available bike, enter the promo code at the payment screen, and start their ride. The process is reversed to end the ride. KANcycle offers a convenient and affordable way to access bicycles, promoting them as a fun, healthy, and eco-friendly transportation and recreation option. The program is supported through a funding partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and is powered by Movatic, which manages all aspects of the bike-share program.
KANcycle aims to integrate with Kansas’s comprehensive transportation system and encourage the replacement of short car trips with bike rides for various purposes. The program seeks to serve a wide range of transportation users, contribute to a healthier and more environmentally friendly Kansas, and enhance the perception of cycling as a practical mode of transportation. Additionally, it aims to maintain high levels of service, reliability, and safety.
