Robert Charles Spilman, 98, of Fredonia, KS passed away on October 17 th , 2024 at Morningstar
Care Homes in Fredonia, KS. Robert was born on August 25 th , 1926 to William Thomas and Isis
Sears.
On August 19 th , 1944 Robert enlisted into the Navy and proudly served his country. After being
discharged from the military he married Lola Elizabeth (Betty) Oglesbee on August 18 th , 1950.
Robert worked for 35 years as a draftsman for Sinclair Oil that later became ARCO of
Independence KS. Robert retired from ARCO at age 58 and began working on a new home for
him and Lola.
Robert enjoyed to hunt, fish and shoot skeet. He also loved his garden. He and Lola canned
their own vegetable and made fudge and caramel popcorn each Christmas.
Robert is survived by:
Son Charles Spilman and his wife Karen of Fredonia, KS;
Sister Addie Ruth George of Double Oak, TX;
Daughter-In-Law- Denise Spilman of Bartlesville, OK;
Grandchildren Dustin Spilman and his wife Rachel of Bartlesville OK, Grandson Ryan Curtis
and his wife Kelly of Lewisville, TX, and Jackie Nelson of Watauga, TX.
One Great granddaughter, Elizabeth Spilman of Bartlesville, OK along with several nieces and
nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by Father William Thomas, Mother Isis (Sears), Wife Lola
Oglesbee, Brothers Jimmie Joe, and Billy, Sister Joy Saevig.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 24 th , 2024 at 11:00am at Countryside
Funeral Home in Fredonia, KS and the family will be accepting people for visitation an hour prior
to service time at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS.
