Pearl Mae Schmidt, 53, of Pretty Prairie, KS, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Prairie Sunset Nursing Home, Pretty Prairie, KS. Pearl was born on October 13, 1971, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Wiley Harold and Grace Mildred (Bell) Ward.
Pearl graduated from Peabody High School in 1990. She worked as a registered nurse for several nursing homes, her last being at Mennonite Friendship Communities.
Pearl is survived by her children, Phoenix Schmidt, Parker Schmidt, Cindy Little, Mindy (John) Arreguin, Kamie Schmidt, Jordan Pease and Erica Hughes; brothers, Harold Ward and Mark Ward; sister, Rose Ward; and eight grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Phillip Schmidt; a sister, Zoe Dutkiewicz; and brother, Leo Ward.
Per Pearl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hutchinson Animal Shelter and can be sent in care of Hutchnson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502.
