Michael Frances Carson Sr., 79, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away November 8, 2024, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born May 22, 1945, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Clarence T. and Evelyn M. (Bradley) Carson. Michael was a near lifelong Lyons resident, formerly of Denver. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Denver, with the class of 1963. Michael served in the United States Air Force from July 8, 1963 until his honorable discharge on July 5, 1967. He worked at Fuller Brush in Great Bend as a computer programmer from 1992 until 2007. Michael was also a traffic manager/DJ for KBGB Radio in Great Bend from 1992 until 1994. He was a member and past commander of the VFW Post #01361. Michael was the lead guitarist and vocalist of the band Cherokee. He loved singing, going to yard sales, flea markets and auctions, and most of all spending time in the mountains. Michael is survived by his four children, Carla Tracy (Kevin) of Simla, CO, Christine Hoffman (Herman) of Abilene, KS, Michael Carson Jr. (Barb) of Great Bend, KS, and Rebecca Lower (Kristin) of Kansas City, MO; partner, Diane Archer of Lyons, KS, and her three children, Ralph, Mary, and Trudy; brother, Don Carson (Betty) of Denver, CO; sister, Wilda Newsome (Mel) of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Heather, Shawn, and Austin; and four great-grandchildren, Leigh, Aurora Jean, Bethany, and Nathan. Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Christopher Griffith. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 A.M., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. A memorial service and burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO, at a later date. Memorials may be given to Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
