Michael Charles Tigner
1952-2024
Michael Charles Tigner, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Wichita, Ks. Born on November 17, 1952, Michael dedicated much of his life to his community and his country. After graduating from high school, Michael honorably served four years in the Air Force, which laid a foundation for his strong work ethic and dedication. Following his military service, he embarked on his lengthy life of working that began at the local Co-op in Neodesha, Ks. While working, Michael attended Pittsburg State University, where he earned a degree in accounting. Michael’s professional career led him to Prestige Cabinets in Neodesha, where he worked for several years. Michael finished his career working the loading docks at Matcor in Independence, Ks. Michael notably served as City Treasurer for Neodesha for 39 years, a testament to his commitment to his community.
Michael’s passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid car enthusiast, spending his spare time working on cars, watching Nascar, and watching dirt track races in Caney and Humboldt. Michael’s love for the Neodesha Bluestreak football was evident in his unwavering support of rarely missing a home game from the late 1970’s through the early 2000’s.
In 2024, Michael began attending church regularly at the Neodesha United Methodist Church, finding solace allowing God into his heart. This newfound faith and fellowship were sources of great comfort and joy.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Kay; sons William (wife DeeAnne) and Christopher (wife Heather); grandchildren Kaylee, Kessen, Mila, Dalton and Joshua; siblings Lynn Clarkson (husband Les), Debbie Baker and Eddie Tigner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Marge Tigner and brother Max Tigner.
Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Neodesha, Ks on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11 am. Michael’s life was marked by his generosity and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. His legacy of service and love for his family will be cherished and remembered by many. Memorials can be left in Michael’s name to A.W.O.L. in Independence, Ks. Michael loved all animals.
