1941-2025
at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Born October 20, 1941, in Neodesha, Kansas, to
Rodney and Margaret (Wooten) Palmer, Marjorie lived a life filled with love, faith, and
unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Marjorie graduated from Coyville High School and in her younger years, worked at Cox Variety
Store, and in the meat department at Self-Service Grocery. Later, she found employment at
Emerson in Independence and ultimately with USD 484 in food services, where she served until
her retirement. However, her most fulfilling role was as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-
grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her nurturing spirit extended to countless others,
embracing her role as a beloved aunt and a steadfast prayer warrior.
Her lifes journey began with a chance encounter – a young man seeing her sitting on a porch,
leading to a drive to Neodesha and a drink. That chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love
story. On October 25, 1964, Marjorie married Jerry L. Cole, a union that spanned over 60 years.
They were blessed with two daughters, Annette and Belinda. Marjorie cherished the moments
spent listening to Jerry's music, whether at home, church, or dances in Altoona.
A devout Christian, Marjorie was a dedicated member of the Coyville Christian Church, where
she served as treasurer for 20 years until she and Jerry were no longer able to make the
journey. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her
compassionate heart.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Cole; daughter Annette Nair and her husband
Jay of Fredonia; brother-in-law Richard Cole of Fredonia; sister-in-law Norma McBride of
Fredonia; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is
also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many
dear friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to warm the hearts of all who
knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney and Margaret Palmer; daughter Belinda
(Cole) Crowe; grandson Jeffrey Puckett; great-grandson Michael Genn; father-in-law Charles
Cole; and mother-in-law Ruby Cole.
Per Marjorie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM
