Margaret Sue Ele, 61, of Waverly, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS.
Margaret, who went by Maggie, was born October 2, 1962, in Emporia, KS, the daughter of Keith and Donna (Meierhoff) Shaw. She spent most of her childhood in Reading, KS, and attended the Reading Schools before graduating from Northern Heights High School. In school she loved to play sports and hang out with friends. After high school she attended Flint Hills Vocational School to train as a dental assistant.
While working at Iowa Beef Packing Plant in Emporia she became acquainted with a coworker, Charles Michael Ele. They married December, 29th 1990 and became the parents of two sons. She and Charles lived in various places including New York and Parsons, KS, before moving to Williamsburg, KS. Charles preceded her in death.
Maggie had various jobs throughout her life, from assisting in management of Swans with her husband to working in greenhouses, but her greatest passion was working with the elderly. She was employed at Sunset Manor Nursing Home for over 20 years, where her love of taking care of the elderly blossomed. She would go on to receive an award for the best healthcare kitchen cook of the year in the state of Kansas.

She was also preceded in death by her mother, Donna Shaw, and brother, Daniel Shaw.
She leaves her two sons, Brian Ele and Ryan Ele; her father, Keith Shaw; two grandchildren, Angel and Damian; a sister, Melinda Baker; two sister in laws, Tammy Brown and Robin Brown, other relatives and friends.
Cremation is planned. A Celebration of the Life of Margaret Ele will be held in Waverly at a time and date to be announced.
