Malvin Ernest “Butch” Stout

Malvin Ernest “Butch” Stout, 81, of Alden, Kansas, passed away December 22, 2023, at his home. He was born July 19, 1942, in Sterling, Kansas, the son of John and Mildred (Bennett) Stout. Butch was a lifelong Alden resident. He graduated from Alden High School, with the class of 1960. Butch worked as a custodian for the Alden and Sterling school district, for 25 plus years. He also worked a few years for the Alden Co-op and was a farmer. Butch served in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966, in Germany. He was a lifelong member of the Alden Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee for many years. Butch was a board member for the Valley Township for sixteen years. He was an avid bird watcher and squirrel chaser, and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. On June 7, 1970, Butch was united in marriage with Virginia L. Carris at the Alden Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Alden, KS; son, Philip Stout (Lisa) of Sterling, KS; daughter, Kimberly Park (Willard) of Marquette, KS; brother, Gordon Stout (Bonnie) of Fort Smith, AR; three grandchildren, Jacob Stout and Taryn Stout both of Sterling, KS, and Elizabeth Park of Marquette, KS; three nieces, Ashley, Tresa, and Jessica; and three nephews, Travis, Andrew, and Steven. Butch is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Cecil Stout. A graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Alden Valley Cemetery, with Pastor Matt Hendricks officiating.  Military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Alden Baptist Church in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
