1928-2024
Leland B. Carlson, 95, of Wichita, passed away on November 18, 2024.
Leland was born on December 11, 1928 in Assaria, Kansas to Benjamin and Esther Carlson. He graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1946. He then attended Bethany College and graduated in 1950. On December 2, 1951 he married Maureen Palmer of Lindsborg. They had three children, Douglas, David (who passed away shortly after birth) and Barbara.
Leland worked for several insurance companies as an agent for Farmers Mutual, as an underwriter for Southern Kansas Mutual, before becoming president, then a rep for Kansas Mutual. After retiring he worked as a delivery driver for Dillons and then became a volunteer transportation driver with American Red Cross. He won many awards for his years of dedicated and accident-free duty. He really enjoyed the satisfaction of helping others. He retired in 2012.
Maureen passed away in 2009. Leland then married Angeline Elliott on August 12, 2012. They enjoyed many years of happiness and she was a wonderful caregiver to him in his final illness. He was preceded in death by: his parents, three sisters; Marilyn Reinhardt, Lorraine Moerer and Laverne Dickman; son, David; and his wife, Maureen. He is survived by: his wife, Angeline of the home; daughter, Barbara of Wichita; son, Doug (Linda) Carlson of Perkins, OK; 5 step children and 2 grandchildren, Greg Owen, McAlester, OK and Lisa Owen of Perkins, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Compassus Hospice (301 N. Main St. Ste 250. Wichita, KS 67202). Services will be announced when finalized.
