Judith A Treiber

Judy Treiber of Wichita, KS passed away on May 25, 2024 at the age of 86, following the rapid progression of pancreatic cancer.

Judy was the first of four children born to parents Ed and Ina of Topeka, KS. Judy met her future husband Jim Treiber at Akey's bakery in Topeka. Despite his having served as an airman from 1951 through 1955, Judy demonstrated her characteristic shrewdness, refusing to marry Jim until he completed high school. Jim negotiated his re-admission into Topeka High, and the couple were soon wed.

Judy continued her support of Jim's advancement, working as an administrative assistant as he continued through Washburn University and a career in retail management. Judy's career had her working at various times for Midwest Solvents, the Kansas Dept. of Agriculture, and Fort Leavenworth's housing office, among others. Over the years, Jim and Judy brought three daughters into the world: Susan, Linda, and Janet, each of whom provided abundant pride over the course of her lifetime.

Following retirement, Judy remained active as a charitable volunteer for Saint Francis Xavier and the greater catholic community of St. Joseph, MO. She was active in the local Mr. & Mrs. club, bridge club, and bowling league. An avid gardener, Judy completed Master Gardener training and was a member of the St. Joseph Garden Club. She also enjoyed taking cruises, birdwatching, and hosting family visits. Regardless of where she happened to be or what she happened to be doing, Judy was sure to be making new friends.

Judy is predeceased by her beloved husband Jim, both parents, and her sister Cyrilla. She is survived by siblings Becky and James, daughters Susan, Linda, and Janet, grandchildren Trey, Reed, and Shambley, and great-granddaughter Ella.

A private memorial service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MO. or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS.
