1944-2024
Jim enlisted in the Air National Guard of Kansas, serving from 1964 to 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He was an active member of the Buhler Mennonite Church.
Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Hale on June 18, 1971 at the Buhler Mennonite Church. She survives of the home after 53 years of marriage.
Jim owned and operated Buhler Auto since 1976.
Jim loved to drive. He drag-raced for over 58 years and was a member of the National Hot Rod Association since 1963. His racing trips to Colorado would often turn into family vacations.
He enjoyed KU basketball and football, but his favorite sports to watch were those his children and grandchildren played.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Voth of the home; children, Mike (Tracy) Voth of Hutchinson, Susan Voth of Hutchinson, and Brian (Sarah) Voth of Wilmington, NC; ten grandchildren, Loryn Wilson, Jarod (Sydney) Boll, Drew Voth, Michael Boll, Rienne Voth, Gracie Voth, Eron Boll, Tessa Johnston, Jackson Voth and Lillian Voth; four great-grandchildren Tyler and Evie Wilson, Krus Valdez, and Caleb Boll; two sisters, Suzanne Lara of Buhler, and Sally Voth Company of Lawrence; brother, Mark (Rebecca) Voth of Buhler; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Buhler Mennonite Church. The family requests no formal wear, instead wear blue jeans and your favorite KU or racing attire. Burial will follow at the Buhler Municipal Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 3 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, November 29, at the Buhler Mortuary, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Buhler Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Council of Reno County or Hospice House in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
