Herbert (Herb) William Adams, age 69, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at his residence in Fredonia, Kansas. Herb was born on September 7, 1955 , in Fredonia, to Charles Adams and Julia (Manning) Adams. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to his family.
Herb pursued his early education and graduated from Fredonia High School in the class of 1973. Throughout his life, he held positions that showcased his skills and work ethic, including working at ADM and serving as a Road Grader for Wilson County, along with his time at Puckett Farms. In the years leading up to his wife’s passing, Herb was a devoted and loving caregiver, providing comfort and unwavering support as she faced her illness. His gentle nature and selfless love for her were evident to all who knew them.
Outside of work, Herb had many interests. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He also had a deep appreciation for studying the Bible and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all, Herb cherished time spent with his family, who were his greatest joy.
Herb was married to Michelle Lamon on April 16, 1978, in Watertown, New York. They shared a life together until her passing on January 13, 2023. Herb was the proud father of three children: Heather (Shawn) Harvey of Neodesha, Kansas; Hollie (Collin) Mellon of Overland Park, Kansas; and Will (Shannan) Adams of Fredonia, Kansas. He cherished his role as a father and was equally proud of his eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Carson, Lauren, Dylan, Madison, Morgan, Jackson “Jax,” and Maclynn. He is survived by his sister, Judy (Don) Ballard of Fredonia, Kansas; sister-in-laws, Anita (Mark) DeVito of Dexter, New York, Rae Lee Lamon of Dexter, New York, and LeeAnn Lamon of Holland, Pennsylvania and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Julia Adams, his wife Michelle Adams, his sister Brenda Taylor, his sister-in-law Diane Lamon, as well as his brother-in-laws Mark Lamon and Jim Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM at Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service located at 510 N 7th St, Fredonia, KS.
Herb’s family and friends will forever remember him as a simple man, known for his integrity, loyalty, and unwavering faith. His boundless generosity and deep love for those closest to him left a lasting impact. While he will be greatly missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
