Helen M. Walker, 84, passed away June 8, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She was born September 18, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Walter and Florence Cislak Callahan.

Moving from New York in 1952, she was a longtime area resident. She worked in the Larned High School Cafeteria and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her grandchildren, gardening, visiting, traveling, and shopping. She loved her flowers.

On November 24, 1961 she married William “Bill” Martin Walker at Larned; he preceded her in death on September 1, 2024.

Survivors include: son, Tony (Alysha Locke) Walker, Larned; three daughters, JoAn Giles, Larned, Janice Eakin, Great Bend, Julie (Graig) Peterman, Lyons; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua (Lauren) Tiday, Aaron (Jenny) Tiday, Brock (Caitlyn) Eakin, Shabree (Cody) Boger, Lucas (Jamie) Giles, Evan Giles, Allison (Phil) Reece, Alex (Kelci) Walker, Bryce Walker, Tyler (Dr. Brandi) Peterman, Dr. Shynia Peterman, Adam Walker, Adrienne (Hunter) Edwards; eighteen great grandchildren, and another one on the way.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Michael “Mike” Walker; three brothers, Joe Callahan, John Callahan, and Frank Callahan Sr.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Anselm Eke, MSP presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned with family present from 5-6 p.m. and a Rosary and Vigil at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.
