Elvenia June Larsen, 85, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away November 26, 2024, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born July 2, 1939, in Pratt, Kanas, the eldest of four children born to Ben H. and Ara E. (Halderman) German. Elvenia was the granddaughter of Volentin and Mollie (Fair) German and Charles and Grace (Dorman) Halderman. Elvenia has resided in Lyons since 1958, formerly of Great Bend, Kansas. She graduated from Pawnee Rock High School, Pawnee Rock, Kansas, with the class of 1957, and received her Registered Nursing Degree from McPherson Nursing School. She worked for twenty-eight years as a nurse at the Lyons Hospital, three years at the Lyons Medical Center, and six years part-time at Sandstone Nursing Home, Little River, when her father was a resident there. Elvenia enjoyed flower gardening, scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, and traveling. On June 9, 1957, Elvenia was united in marriage with Norman Larsen at the Pawnee Rock United Methodist Church, Pawnee Rock, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1986. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Evelyn Deering. Elvenia is survived by her two children, Sharon Mead and David Larsen and wife Charlotte all of Lyons, KS; two siblings, Bill German of Wichita, KS, and Betty Eagles and husband Charles of Lenexa, KS; four grandchildren, Nicholas Mead and wife Holly, Michael Mead and wife Sharolyn , and Andy Larsen and wife Nickia all of Lyons, KS, and Chris Larsen and wife Lacey of Adamsville, OH; six great-granddaughters, Camile, Sydney, Mia, Kyler, Maklyn, and Guinevere; six great-grandsons, Alexander, Colson, Tucker, Declan, Gabrial and Damon; sister-in-law, Beverly Larsen Campbell of Little River, KS; and numerous cousins of which she was the eldest. Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, with Pastor Nickia Larsen officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 29, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present.
