Dolores Gambrell
1946-2025

Dolores Gambrell, 79, died June 21, 2025 in the Hospice Home Facility of Reno County. She was born May 22, 1946 in Harlingen, Texas then moved to Michigan with her parents Jesus Ortiz and Andrea Cervantes.

She then met Ruben Monroe Gambrell several years later while driving her fathers Pontiac down Vernor in Southwest Detroit. They married in city of Detroit in Wayne county Michigan on October 21st 1967. Two years later they brought Theresa Gambrell into this world, followed by her other two sisters, Julia Gambrell and Monica Gambrell.

Her grandkids were everything to her.  "Grams" is what Madison Stackpoole, Noah Stackpoole, Luc Stackpoole, Elijah Stackpoole, Grant Pope and Reagan Pope would lovingly call her. She loved sending Birthday Cards and Christmas Cards every chance she could get. She also enjoyed going to the grandchildren's activities when her health allowed.

Dolores had spent many years in a Senior Center in Janesville Wisconsin where she met many of her loving friends and would have frequent visits from Theresa, Grant, Reagan, Monica and her good friend Kristie Pope, who would prepare several diabetic meals for her.

Once her health demands were too much for the senior center Dolores took a road trip with her daughter Monica to Hutchinson Kansas where she lived out the remainder of her days.

Dolores was battling a few illnesses for the past 8 years of her life. Unfortunately her body finally succumbed to Parkinson's Disease. One thing for certain her mind was still sharp but her body just would not let her live in peace.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. In verdant pastures He gives me repose; Beside restful waters He leads me; He refreshes my soul. He guides me in right paths for His name's sakes. Even though I walked in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side with your rod and staff that give me courage.  You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil; My cup overflows. Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.
