Danetta E. Salmans, 76, passed away November 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore
She was born October 15, 1948 in Great Bend, the daughter of Ralph and Eleanor Driscoll Schartz. A longtime area resident, she was an Insurance Agent for Hanston Insurance Agency.
She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston where she played the piano for thirty years. Danetta loved watching her grandkids play sports and attending their activities. She enjoyed doing yardwork, cross stitch, her dogs and was an avid KU fan.
On September 29, 1972 she married Terrance “Terry” Salmans in Great Bend, Kansas. He passed away June 4, 2022.
Survivors include: two daughters, Tara Salmans, Dodge City and Sidni (Mitchell) Durler, Jetmore; two sisters, Jacque Knop and Eddi Spacil, both of WaKeeney; her granddaughter, Dylan Durler and her grandson, Dalton Durler; three brother-in-law’s, Jay (Jeanne) Salmans, Montezuma, Lane (Lisa) Salmans, Gruver, TX, Jim Byrum, Dodge City; sister-in-law, Cetra Salmans, Hays and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Schartz and Eleanor Driscoll Schartz Spacil; stepdad, Ernest Pete Spacil; Father-in-law, Junior Salmans; mother-in-law, Maxine Salmans; brother-in-law, Marc Salmans; sister-in-law, Janet Byrum and a nephew, Thayne Knop.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston with Father John Forkuoh presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, with family present from 6-8p.m. at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hodgeman County Health Center or O’Shea Memorial Clinic in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
