Anne Marie Clark
1933-2024
Anne Marie (McGinn) Clark passed away on May 21, 2024, in Chanute, Kansas,
surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 25, 1933, in Evanston, Illinois,
to John Vincent McGinn and Ann Bernice Fitzpatrick.On October 18, 1952, Anne Marie married Melvin Clark, in Crown Point, Indiana. Their
marriage spanned 54 beautiful years until Melvin’s passing in 2007. Together, they
created a warm and loving home for their family, moving to different areas, including
Chicago, Illinois, Raritan, New Jersey, and Chanute, Kansas.
Anne Marie had several jobs over the years but by far her favorite was as a dedicated
para-professional at Royster Middle School, where she touched the lives of many
students with her kindness and unwavering support. She found joy in her work and
made lasting connections with her colleagues and students.
In her free time, Anne Marie enjoyed baking delicious cookies and cupcakes for her
family and friends. Her kitchen was always filled with the sweet aroma of her
homemade treats, bringing smiles to all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Anne
Marie was very proud of her Irish heritage and spoke of this frequently. She also
cherished her weekly Bingo games and Friday morning Coffee Clutch gatherings with
her friends at Murray Hill Senior Apartments. If you really knew Anne Marie you know
she had a unalterable love for the Chicago Cubs
Anne Marie is survived by her loving children Kathleen Blake, Belding, Michigan, David
(Jennifer) Clark, Neodesha, Kansas, Jeannie Gorky, Brooklyn, Connecticut James
(Lisa) Clark, Overland Park, Kansas and Mary Beth (Mitch) Reeves, Owasso,
Oklahoma, Daughter-in-Law Yvonne Clark, Asbury, New Jersey. She also leaves behind
17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy and pride to her
life. Anne Marie is also fondly remembered by her sister, Nora Ellen Whitney of
Madison, Wisconsin. In addition, Anne Marie will be missed by her former daughter-in-
law/special friend, Tootie Starr of Chanute, KS.
Anne Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Clark, their son
Patrick Clark, and her brothers Jack McGinn, Jerry McGinn, and Michael (Brother
Timothy) McGinn. Despite the hardships she faced with these losses, Anne Marie’s
strength and faith never wavered.
The family will receive friends on May 28, 2024 from 5-7pm at Countryside Funeral
Home on South Highland. Rosary will be May 29 th at 10:30 at St Patrick’s Catholic
Church on South Central Ave in Chanute, Kansas. A funeral service to honor and
celebrate Anne Marie’s life will be held following at 11am.
The family requests that donations be made to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in
Anne Marie’s memory, as a heartfelt thank you for the compassionate care provided to
her during her final days.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Father JD Betzen, Brooke Dyke,
Dr. Thomen, and the staff of Harry Hynes Hospice for their steadfast support and
dedication to Anne Marie’s wellbeing.
Anne Marie (McGinn) Clark will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and
the legacy of warmth and joy she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing
she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing
her.
