Bulldog Women Shutout York 4-0, Men End in Scoreless Draw

McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson College Soccer teams hosted York University on Wednesday, for a KCAC matchup. Both women’s teams were looking for their first conference win of the season, and it was the Bulldogs, who came out aggressive scoring three goals in the first half.

Emily Segura would get MC on the board in the 11th minute, with an assist coming from Vannesa Cisneros. Cisneros would later add a goal before the half to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead. Caitlin Buendia had a goal in each half, scoring two goals on three shots, the final goal came at the 58th minute, as the Bulldogs would go to shut out the Panthers 4-0.

Following the match, Head Coach Mark Olson was quoted saying, “”I am very proud of the team and their efforts in getting the win this evening.  We not only got the win, but the players gained confidence in themselves by having success in many aspects of the game.” Olson concluded by saing, “Scoring four goals in a game is a great accomplishment no matter who you are playing and as the season has progressed we have been able to show the ability to be dangerous in the final third of the field going to goal.”

The Bulldog Women moved to 1-5-2 overall, 1-2-1 in the KCAC.

The Bulldog Men would suffer their second tie in three matches. York had 12 shots to the Bulldogs 11, but MC would have more shots on goal 5-3, led by Gabe Porras put both of his attempts on goal.

Head Coach Doug Quint noted following the match, “We put in a great shift tonight, against a quality side. (I) felt we had a winner in us, but just couldn’t find it.”

The Bulldog Men moved to 4-3-2 overall, 2-0-2 in the KCAC.
