Veteran’s Honor 5K and Fun Run in Hutchinson November 12th

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Vieyra Honors Foundation (VHF), in collaboration with Hutch Rec is hosting the 2nd annual Veteran’s Honor 5K & Fun Run. This year the event will be hosted in Downtown Hutchinson on November 12.

This family-friendly event provides a great opportunity to run or walk a 1-, 2-, or 3-mile loop through the veteran’s honor banners currently posted along Main Street. 100% of all proceeds will be going towards Reno County Veteran’s Awareness and Initiative, which aligns with VHF’s mission and vision. More information can be found at vieyrashonorsfoundation.org.

The 5k & Fun Run is a chipped event that will begin at 8:30 AM, starting and ending between 2nd and 3rd streets on Main Street in Downtown Hutch with an awards ceremony held afterward. Each participant will receive an event t‐shirt, a participation medal, and a ticket to the pancake feed. Registration for the event is open until 8 AM the day of the event.

Marla Booher, VHF President said, “This event has something for everyone! Even if you aren’t into running, you are invited to join us downtown & partake in the pancake feed hosted by VFW Post 1361. With this being an event to Honor our Veterans, we have also invited the KS National Guard to bring a military display and the VFW Riders will be performing the opening ceremony. All of this will take place under the 80+ Veterans banners we currently have displayed on Main Street.”

Other local Veterans organizations and sponsors will be in attendance with event booths, including KS Honors Flight, 40 & 8 Club, and Hutchinson Regional Health Care System. Metropolitan Coffee, Kroger, Jackson’s and Hubco have all provided donations to help make this event possible as well.
