HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Operations and maintenance were the focus of a Hutchinson USD 308 study session Monday Evening. Assistant Superintendent of Operations Randy Norwood gave the board an overview of the various roles and responsibilities of the department, which in addition to maintenance, includes nutrition services and information technology activities. Directors provided information on each of their departments, including ongoing projects.

In a facility-related matter, the Board approved a $40.673 agreement with Johnson Controls for testing and inspection of systems and frequencies for fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, and the sprinkler system backflow. This covers all attendance centers used by the district along with their Education Support Center.

The Board also authorized the disposal of a long list of surplus items, which will be sold via an online auction. The items being disposed of range from vehicles to weights to shop equipment to smart boards. Proceeds from the sale will be put into USD 308’s capital outlay fund.
