McPherson, Kan. – As recommended by McPherson Water Park staff, the McPherson City Commission this morning approved the curtailment of hours for the Water Park starting Friday. Park hours will be from 1-5 PM Tuesday through Friday, 1-4 PM Saturday, and 2-6 PM Sunday through the end of this year’s pool season on August 14.
A shortage of lifeguards, which has plagued the pool and others around the country this year, led to the cutbacks and to the move earlier this month to close the pool on Mondays.
Road Work Update
Public Works Director Jeff Woodard gave McPherson City Commissioners an update Tuesday on the three major projects currently in progress including the 2022 chip and fog sealing projects which were completed last week by Circle C Paving, which Woodard said did a good job.
On the reconstruction of the 900 block of North Elm, Street Department crews continued work on forming the radius for the Elm and Earl intersection and the placing of drives back along Earl Street. On the Kansas Avenue/Old 81 bypass intersection, reconstruction payment removals on the south side of the intersection were completed last week. No work will be done on the project for a few days.
New Water Treatment Plant
Drawings for the new treatment plant are now 60% complete. They could be 90% complete sometime in September.
Construction on the water treatment plant is scheduled to place in 2023. BPU crews will be doing most of the work.
