HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Strataca is lighting up underground in preparation for its annual Season of Lights. Beginning Saturday, November 12, Strataca, Kansas’ Underground Salt Museum will display over 100,000 lights, thousands of wrapped presents, Christmas tree lane, Gingerbread Alley, and of course, jolly ol’ Saint Nick.
Jonathan Ziemer, Chief Engineer, has worked diligently for months to install miles and miles of lights 650’ underground. “You don’t even have to wait until it gets dark to see the Christmas lights.” Ziemer says, “It’s dark all day long underground, so you can enjoy them anytime.”
Season of Lights will be on display beginning Saturday, November 12th through January 8th. General admission into the museum is required to see the lights.
Santa Claus will be present on December 10th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, with fun activities inside the Event Center.
