HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The City of Hutchinson has scheduled a public hearing for Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. at City Hall to present and discuss alternatives and proposed improvements to the wastewater collection system, wastewater treatment plant, and water distribution system. Improvements will be funded through the low-interest State Revolving Loan Fund Program being offered by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Funding is being sought for the following improvements:
- Sewer collections system updates, including replacement of self-priming wet-well, mounted pumps with submersible non-clog pumps.
- Wastewater Treatment Plant updates consist of headworks grit removal and equipment replacement.
- Water distribution updates, including replacement of approximately 1.3 miles of 6-inch cast iron waterline in various locations.
The total cost of all proposed projects is estimated at just under $5 million.
Alternatives and improvements will be explained during the Oct. 4 hearing, with time offered for public questions and comments.
