October’s Ad Astra Radio McPherson Classroom Hero Award Recipient is Heather Pfieff

MCPHERSON, Kan. – Ad Astra Radio announces the October 2022 recipient of the McPherson Classroom Hero Award presented by People’s Bank and Trust.

Heather Pfieff is in her sixth year of teaching at Eisenhower Elementary in McPherson USD 418. When asked what her favorite part about being an educator is, she said, “Seeing all of the little progress that can be made. Every little step counts, I have a special rule because I have a lot of the kids that aren’t traditional students, and they can do so much, and I’m just always excited to see how much they can do.”

Each month, Ad Astra Radio randomly selects a different educator, from community nominations, to receive the Classroom Hero Award, along with a “Thank You” gift basket. Gift items are courtesy of community partners, including People’s Bank and Trust, Midway Motors, Stuzman’s Greenhouse, Hutch Putt, and The Foto Cowboy.

Eisenhower Elementary Principal Chris Allen said, “She’s just an excellent educator that meets the kids’ needs in so many different ways, not only her own kids in her own classroom but the way that she educates all students. She works in a specialized program, but it doesn’t matter to her, she teaches all kids, and she’s teaching kids inclusion, and that everyone matters.” He concluded by saying, “She’s an incredible teacher, and an incredible human being.”

The Classroom Hero Award seeks to highlight the hard work and dedication of those on the front lines in our local schools. Nominations are continually being accepted at https://www.adastraradio.com/classroom-hero.
