MTC Announces Annual Grant Program

MCPHERSON – MTC is pleased to announce the annual grant program for rural communities available through the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), in cooperation with NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association.

FRS provides annual grants for programs in rural communities served by NTCA members such as MTC. The grants support local efforts to build and sustain a high quality of life in rural America. Applicants may request grants in the range of $250 to $5,000. Each grant is a one-time award. Projects may be funded at a lesser amount than requested. Specifically, the foundation supports organizations and projects that fit into the following categories: Business and Economic Development, Community Development, Education, and Telecommunications Applications. Although this is a nationwide grant, our rural Kansas communities have a great chance to be awarded funds. Proudly, MTC has had multiple winners in past years!

Priority will be given to projects that can be fully funded by the grant maximum of $5,000 or have 75% or more of the project currently funded, are Broadband enabled or technology focused, have a long[1]term impact for the community and its residents, promote community participation and engagement, or that make rural communities a better place to live and work! FRS will not fund grants to individuals, scholarship programs, international organizations, lobbying and political activities, ticketed events, infrastructure/building campaigns, capital campaigns, endowments, event sponsorships, community food programs or loan programs.

For more information on the FRS Grant Program Guidelines please visit the following website: https://www.frs.org/programs/grant-program/community-grant. From here, you will download the application guide and use it to create and submit your application to MTC. Grant applications MUST be received electronically to MTC at [email protected]. We request these are submitted in a Word document with any additional documentation attached as PDFs.

MTC will review the applications, then upload those that are eligible to FRS before the deadline. Please note, the grants should not be written to MTC, we are simply the NTCA member who endorses your grant. All materials should be written to The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) but submitted to MTC. Once again, all applications MUST be submitted to MTC, any that are submitted directly to The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) will not be eligible and will be immediately discarded.

Please contact Jessica Andrews or Shayla Grasser by e-mail- [email protected] or phone- 877-216-9951 for questions or more information. The deadline to submit applications to MTC is August 15th, 2022. Selection of grant award winners will be done by the FRS, then will then notify grant award winners in early December, 2022.
