MCPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson County Commissioners Monday accepted the low bid of just under $275 thousand from Reece Construction out of Salina for the replacement of a bridge on Wheatridge Road in far northern McPherson County.
Commissioners had earlier rejected all bids on the project, with Kirkham Michael re-designing the project to be bid again. A grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation is covering $150 thousand of the cost of this project, with the remainder to be paid from ARPA money.
Public Works Director Tom Kramer reported that all overlay work for the year has been completed and work on striping of projects is now underway. Brooming of chip seal project areas is also in progress.
Kramer said crews will be doing asphalt patch work along 27th Avenue this week. Other crews have been working on boxes and pipes along Pawnee Road to get that project wrapped up.
