– McPherson City Commissioners Monday approved purchase of a replacement for the chief’s truck that was totaled when it was struck by a vehicle March 2
while responding to a fire call. After what turned out to be a nationwide search to find a replacement, a Ford F-250 pickup was located at a dealership in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Commissioners authorized up to $75,000 for the replacement including transportation and other costs.
A quote from Cody Heiman Construction was approved for design and construction services for sidewalk extensions in three parks to meet ADA Compliance requirements. The projects include sidewalks to playground areas in Whitlock Park and Countryside Park, and to two of the shelters in Lakeside Park.
Extension of a memorandum of understanding with Bird Scooters for an electric scooter rental program in McPherson was approved. The approval came following finalization of a location for maintenance and storage that meets zoning requirements.
Commissioners were informed the last items on the sidewalk extension on Northview Road from Main Street to the Meadowlark Trail are to be completed this week following a final inspection last week.
Proclamations were approved for Arbor Day, National Travel and Tourism Week next week, and Municipal Clerks Week. For Arbor Day the city’s Tree Board and staff will have an event including planting of two trees Friday morning at 10 near Shelter 4 at Lakeside Park, across Lakeside Drive from Washington Elementary School.
Commissioners also approved a request from the McPherson Public Library to store dirt from an upcoming project in the area west of the library and the south end of the city parking lot to the north of the building.
