MCPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson USD 418 Board of Education has approved the 2022-23 budget and the resolution stating the district will exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate for the property tax levy on that budget. The total budget of $61.675 million includes that of the McPherson County Special Education Cooperative USD 418 is the sponsoring district for.
The district’s mill levy was set based on current valuation projections at 51.4, which is just under three-tenths of a mill higher than the 2021-22 final levy. It is .65 mills above the Revenue Neutral Rate, which is what it would take to raise the same tax dollars raised for the prior year’s budget.
Total tax dollars raised will be just shy of $18 thousand dollars more than last year.
An update was given by Dr. Denise Seguine, who 3 1/2 years ago contracted with the district for a systematic study of curriculum and instruction. Dr. Seguine reviewed steps that have been taken or are in the process of being implemented from that study.
Considerable curriculum work has taken place, including aligning the core curriculum in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social studies throughout all grades.
Non-Teaching Staff Raise
A five percent salary increase for non-teaching staff in USD 418 was approved by the Board. This includes classified employees, administrators, and a group of employees listed as other.
