It’s Rodeo Time Again in Abbyville, Celebrate 60 Years of Rodeo History

– The Abbyville Frontier Days PRCA Rodeo and BBQ is celebrating 60 years this weekend.

B &B Productions Barrel Races is hosting barrel racing Thursday night with exhibitions starting at 5:30 p.m. The competition starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Friday night is family night – gates open at 6 p.m. Make sure to come early and watch the Mutton Bustin. Pre-registration is required for 3–6-year-olds, with a 60-pound weight limit.

Mutton Bustin takes place in the arena both Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., followed by PRCA rodeo action at 8 p.m.

Meet the rodeo queens at the rodeo or at the parade on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Miss Rodeo America, Hailey Fredericksen, will be there, along with eight other regional rodeo queens.

New to Abbyville this year are the “Flying Arena Stars. Trick riders Shyla, Layna, and Clara Navarre have performed from coast to coast, including at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Saturday events continue with a Ranch Rodeo at 11:30 a.m. and the BBQ meal at 5:30 p.m.

Come back Sunday morning for the Cowboy Church Service and Carry-In Dinner at 10:30 a.m.

Tickets are only $10 in advance and available at A5 Western in Hutchinson, Gambino’s in South Hutchinson, Farmer’s Coop in Abbyville, Central Prairie Coop in Sterling, The Village Place Salon in Arlington, and Yoder Auto Center in Yoder.
