Hutchinson Man Pleads to Reduced Charges in February Drive-By Shooting

By Lucky Kidd, Ad Astra Radio

HUTCHINSON – Pleas have been entered in connection with the February 22nd drive-by shooting of a residence in the 700 block of West 1st Ave. in Hutchinson.

Cristian Flores pleaded guilty Tuesday to a reduced charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute based on the quantity of it found on him when he was arrested.  The February incident stemmed from a dispute with a teen who was visiting the residence.

Flores also pleaded to a second aggravated assault charge involving his threatening another teen with a Samurai sword in August 2021 on North Maple.

Flores and a 17-year-old juvenile were originally charged with attempted second-degree murder in the shooting incident. The juvenile pleaded guilty last month to aggravated assault, criminal threat, and two other charges. Flores will be sentenced on August 12th, and the juvenile’s disposition hearing will be on July 11th.
