Hutch Rec Announces Opening of Foxtrot Studio

HUTCHINSON – Hutch Rec’s arts and culture division announces the opening of a new media arts space in Downtown Hutchinson, the Foxtrot Studio, located at 13 E. Sherman.

Residents interested in what services the Foxtrot Studio provides are invited to a come-and-go Open House on June 9 from 4-7 p.m. At that time, individuals may begin purchasing Foxtrot Studio memberships as well as book studio times and rent equipment. Additional information about the Foxtrot can be found at: https://www.hutchrec.com/foxtrot-studio, as well as the Heartland Arts & Culture Collective on Facebook.

A second Open House will take place on June 23 from 4-7 p.m., and the studio will also be open during June Third Thursday, June 16, from 4-7 p.m. A ribbon cutting will take place during July’s Third Thursday on July 21.

The Foxtrot is a place for storytellers of all kinds to learn about and produce their own media, a public resource media studio that creates access to equipment, technology, and training. Just a “trot” down the alley from the Fox Theatre, the Foxtrot is a collaboration studio among Hutch Rec Arts & Culture Division, the Heartland Arts & Culture Collective, and the Kansas Department of Commerce Creative Arts Industries Commission.

The Foxtrot Studio was made possible through funding from the Hutch Rec Foundation. The Foundation’s support of these community initiatives are made possible through event sponsors, including First Bank Kansas, who supported the Hutch Rec Foundation’s inaugural Hutch Brewfest in October.

At the Foxtrot, users will learn and work with industry professionals to record music, podcasts, share media online, and create content for both individuals and small businesses. Off-site audio and video services also are available. Studio memberships are available to purchase, which include access to exclusive content from the Foxtrot’s collection of public arts media, plus discounts to studio and equipment rentals.

For more information on the Foxtrot Studio services and memberships, contact Veronika Nelson, arts and culture programmer at Hutch Rec, at [email protected] or (620) 663-6179.
