Hutch PD Responds to Armed Subject Call, Two Taken Into Custody

HUTCHINSON – On Friday (06-24-2022) at approximately 3:21 PM, Officers with the Hutchinson Police Department
were dispatched to Adams Street Automotive, 528 N. Adams St., for the report of two armed subjects threatening an employee inside the business. When officers arrived on scene the armed subjects were taken into custody without further incident.

The armed subjects were identified as Kevin D. Shipman, WM/48, and Jesse D. Shipman WM/19. Kevin and Jesse Shipman were both armed with handguns and were involved in an argument with the owner of Adams Street Automotive, prior to officers arriving on scene.

During the argument, Kevin and Jesse Shipman brandished their handguns inside the business. No one sustained any injuries as a result of this incident.

Both Kevin and Jesse Shipman were arrested for one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and remain in custody at the Reno County Correctional Facility.
