HUTCHINSON – The proposed sale of a lot in Salt City Business Park II to the group planning to construct a spec industrial building was not acted upon by the Hutchinson City Council Tuesday. Mayor Jade Piros de Carvalho asked the proposal be tabled for now, with the Council agreeing to defer this item until a later date.
The city is proposing to sell the property for $100,000, on $5,000 an acre for the 20 buildable acres on the site.
The hang-up in the sale involves a $200,000 lien on that site executed with Siemens Energy in 2014 under which the company gave up an option it had on that site. Among questions is whether that lien is still valid and who any payment should go to in the wake of a subsequent merger between Siemens AG and Gamesa.
