Area Home Prices Up Again in May

HUTCHINSON – Home sale prices have taken a jump, substantial in some areas, in the mid and south central Kansas region served by Prairie Land Realtors Mid-Kansas Multiple Listing Service.

For their entire area, the average sale price of a home in May increased by 11.2 percent from May 2021 to an average of $159,772. Median price of $139,950 is up 7.1 percent. The average home region-wide was on the market 54 days, with 142 homes sold which is 19.3 percent less than a year ago. The home market also remains tight with 157 active listings region wide.

In Reno County the average price of the 81 homes sold during May increased by 9.8 percent. As of the end of the month there were 52 active listings in Reno County, which works out to nearly a one-month supply in a typical market.

McPherson County home sales, including those in Marion County through the MLS, dropped in May by 44.2 percent from a year ago with the average sales price jumping 22.2 percent from last year to $219,500. McPherson County has 35 listings active on the multi-list.
