HUTCHINSON – Swim, bike, and run your way to the finish line at the annual Salty Dog and Salty Pup Triathlon, August 6th in Carey Park. Do you have what it takes? Compete individually or as a team.
The Salty Dog is open to ages 13 and up, where contestants will swim 400 meters in the pool at Salt City Splash, bike 10.5 miles on a course closed to vehicles, and run 3.1 miles on a paved trail. Youth, ages 5 to 15 can enter the Salty Pup, where they’ll swim 100 meters, bike 4.2 miles, and run 1 mile.
The event is chip-timed and all participants will receive a finisher’s medal. Awards will be given for the top three finishers in each age group for both male and female.
Day of check-in gets underway at 5:15 a.m. with the park closed to traffic. Parking information will be posted as well as designated locations for spectator viewing. Official start time for the Salty Dog is 7 a.m. followed by the Salty Pup at 9 a.m.
The triathlon is part of the Hutch Rec Race Series which also includes the Muddy Hutch 5K and Lil Mudder 3K at Fun Valley on September 17th. Learn more at https://www.hutchrec.com/race-series-events/.
